“Dreams of the Past” – Panos Dramitinos

Panos Dramitinos - 17/05/2015 - 0 comments

“Dreams of the Past” was composed by Panos Dramitinos in 2003 as a soundtrack for the short film “Ekthesi ideon” which was written and directed by Natassa Ioannou. “Ekthesi ideon” means ‘a composition of dreams’. A young boy is narating a composition he wrote about what he hopes his life will be like when he grows up while the film is silently depicting the same boy at a later age. However the life he lives is very different to his childhood dreams.
“Dreams of the past” resurfaced in the year 2013 when it was selected by Principle Musician Alice Labarche of the Syros-Hermoupolis Philharmonic Orchestra to be played for a celebration at the Apollon Theatre in Hermoupolis, Syros. She arranged the piece beautifully and reconfigured its structure to shorten its duration. She did a marvelous job! Thank you Alice.
The piece was then selected for a collaborative project (April 2015) between the Syros-Hermoupolis Philharmonic Orchestra and the music School Accords in France. This video recording is from the performance of the two academies in the town of Villard-Bonnot in France. The piece was played twice back to back as the finale and an encore. More info in the video titles.
